Gaming Popularity Drives Game Cost

Source: Ferryhere.files.wordpress.com

Why do video games cost $60? They were so much cheaper years ago, why has the price skyrocketed from what is was? One reason we already discussed was because video games cost more to develop than before and in order for the companies to make a profit they had to raise the prices of the games.

Another reason that ive found is that the popularity of gaming is one of the factors that drove the price of games up. Have you noticed how the price of gas rises around the holidays and then lowers after? Thats because when the holidays come around they know people will be traveling more and in order to make more money they inflate the prices, and when they don't travel as much and people aren't buying as much gas they lower the price again.

And the price of video games are not different. In the article "Just How Popular Are Video Games?" it talks about when video games were a brand new concept they weren't that popular the price for games was around $20. and as they became more and more popular the companies slowly drove the price of games up so the companies can make more profit.
