A donation can mean a lot of different things. Many non-profit organizations, for example, may accept cash donations, or they might accept supplies that help their cost. When it comes to medical Aid, most donations are collected in cash. However, certain medical organizations accept donations of other things such as medical supplies or even medicines.

According to an article entitled “Global Programs” found under the website of Americares, “AmeriCares Global Medical Assistance program delivers essential medicines and supplies to over 3,500 hospitals and health clinics in the developing world.” Americares is a well-known organization that has helped benefit the lives of people in underdeveloped countries by providing medical assistance. This shows that not only are these medical assistances made available, but they come in great numbers as well. The quantity of medical assistance is important because the greater amount of aid, the more people affected.

People receiving this medical assistance have greatly benefitted as well. According to the article previously mentioned above, “In Malawi, a mother with HIV can birth and raise a child without the disease because she has access to medicines and treatment.” If this mother did not have access to this treatment, then she would not have been able to have her child without it having HIV. This is all because medical assistance was simply made available within her area. In my opinion, I think that providing this assistance is definitely necessary and should be considered a priority. HIV Aids is a serious problem in Africa especially, and this example shows that it has the potential to be prevented. If this prevention is possible, then we should try our best to prevent this by taking the means necessary.

Donating is most-likely the simplest way of helping others who desperately need it. As shown above, Americares is a great vessel for providing these donations to people in underdeveloped countries. With the great number of medical advances, people have a greater ability to receive these medical assistances as well. In my opinion, people should contribute to organizations by donating because not only is it easy, but the impact it has can greatly benefit a person’s life.

FUTURE RESEARCH: For my next blog post, I will discover the different ways people volunteer, find out who these volunteers are exactly, and find the places these people volunteer. I will also try to find different organizations for volunteering.
