Using the information from a national newspaper The Wall Street Journal, an article "Finding the Right Business Venture for a Retired Football Pro" by Allan Boomer, I argue that athletes success will carry over into their retirement.

Thesis: Athletes success will carry over into their retirement.
Many athletes set goals, and have a mind set to achieve those goals. But then the goals diminish, health diminish, and realize it is time to retire. With retirement comes so many factors, where to invest money, to be able to make money, what to do with all the extra time, and most of all how to fulfill your goals outside of sports. In many cases, athletes do not really handle their own money, because it is difficult to handle millions upon millions of dollars. In an article, "Finding the Right Business Venture for a Retired Football Pro" by Allan Boomer, it states many purposes for all athletes in a retirement situation. states, “ Rather than help him find investments to simply grow his money, we wanted to help him find good business opportunities that he could be a part of and really throw himself into.” This expresses how an athlete needs to find something that they can connect with, and be the best they can, creating the most opportunity for them.
The article continues to express how when an athlete retires it is not the end, but rather a new start. Allan Boomer expresses that “ It’s akin to having a playbook, for an athlete who’s spent his life executing game plans- and doing that very well- it seemed like a model to which he would be well-suited.” This is a very specific example, but relates to many athletes, because life is a game, and you got to play it, so making a business, or investment, in a ‘game plan’ type of metaphor it may help the retired athlete more than just a regular business man would of done.
If an athlete is successful, they will continue to be successful in their future, and in retirement. I believe this article by Allan Boomer was well written, because it puts it in perspective of an athlete, and he understands how an athlete thinks, and he knows how to get the most use out of them. As for I watch a ton of sports, I always think of what players do after words. We see many people starting charities or restaurants, but I always question their reasoning’s. I feel like for an athlete to continue their success throughout life, they will need to continue their ‘game plan’ and do what they truly desire.
