Key to Happiness

  • Briefly explain why you are interested in studying your topic:  I am taking the class AP Psychology and I find it very interesting how we think and why we do the things we do. I also went on a mission trip last spring break to the Bahamas and I found it interesting how the people there, living in poor conditions could be just as happy or even happier than people are in Hinsdale. Overall, the science behind it intrigues me and I wonder how certain situations and circumstances impact how happy you are.

  • The overall question I plan on answering by the end of the project: Why and how can people be happy?

  • Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question: What is the science behind being happy? Are there certain circumstances that make people happy? How can people from different places around the world share the same happiness without having the same backgrounds? How much do material possessions contribute to a person’s happiness?

  • My plan of research (what specific Library Databases, specific websites, names of authors, people, etc. will I pursue to find the answers to the questions above): I will use the library databases to find articles about the subject. I can talk to my AP Psych teacher about my question and maybe refer to my book for that class.
