The profit of the NFL.

• Briefly explain why you are interested in studying your topic:  

I am an avid fan of football and watch every game during the season. I find the business side of the league intriguing considering it is a billion dollar phenomenon in today’s world. Considering how large the NFL is altogether, it will be interesting to compare the franchises independently with their yearly profit and expenses.

• The overall question I plan on answering by the end of the project:

How have the NFL franchises been profitable and continue to increase revenue?

• Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question:

How does the league coordinate prices for merchandise such as jerseys, shirts or even game tickets? How different are the income and expenses for each team? Why is it that some teams have massive, advanced stadiums while some can’t afford to construct a new one?

• My plan of research (what specific Library Databases, specific websites, names of authors, people, etc. will I pursue to find the answers to the questions above):

I plan on answering my questions by going on financial websites to see what teams reported for their revenue, their expenses,and their profit. Also, going on team websites and searching for ticket prices as well as licensed merchandise being sold. I’d be interested to see how the official NFL shop varies from individual team shops.
