Value of Athletes in Different Sports

I am interested in this topic because I am curious why some professional athletes are paid significantly more in one sport rather than another.  I want to understand how the value of each athlete in different sports is determined and who determines that.

What determines the value of professional athletes in different sports?

• Sub questions I will need to answer in order to answer the overall question:

How does the difficulty of a sport affect the players’ salaries?

Where does the money come from in different sports?

What are the factors that go into the value of a professional athlete?

How does the average salary differ in all sports?

I am not sure of which specific websites or authors I will research, but I plan on using ProQuest.
